Position: Senior QA Engineer – NPI
Location: Penang, Malaysia

Job Objectives

The individual is responsible for providing technical and project management skills to ensure that new products are introduced timely, efficient, good quality and cost- effective manner. The role will be responsible for front-end engineering and completion of New Product Introduction (NPI) using the company standard processes and procedures, highlighting DFM and production capability issues as appropriate.

This role also supports and develops strong relationships and collaboration with Product Development, Operations and the Supply Chain organization by driving effective in various aspects in project delivery, NPI Launches and smooth transitions to manufacturing.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to support the project planning of NPI activities with R&D and SCM- Sourcing Team.
  • Liaise with relevant departments such R&D, Process, SCM, QA & Production for project distribution or issues.
  • Perform study on Engineering drawing for production, understand Internal or customer specifications & requirements on the new product or project.
  • Enable to drive and support project team to ensure timely implementation of First Article project prior to mass production run.
  • Review DFM, PFMEA, process capability study, stack up tolerance study for product design and requirement.
  • Collaborated with SQA to establish supplier’s process control plan, inspection methods and process monitoring according to drawing for new product. Including GR&R & correlation studies to qualify equipment conversion, as well as evaluate measurement/inspection methods
  • Ensure development of part or product as per drawing requirement.
  • As FAI main communication window with internal team, prepare progress update report and lead technical discussion.
  • Develop, analyze, and record permanent solution for any problem encountered during or product or project implementation.
  • Lead and perform Post Mortem activities for all FA items before 1st MP.
  • Review critical part jig and fixture concept for new product and process improvement.
  • Redesigns or adjusts measurement capability to minimize errors or correlation factors
  • Technical support and training to others.
  • If any, Initiate Purge Control, Engineering Change Notification (ECN) and Internal Deviation Request Form.
  • Review First Article Inspection Report (FAIR).
  • Address quality issue with 8D report and follow up RCCA report for the closure.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and take proactive
    measures to mitigate risks and ensure on-time delivery of new products.
  • Champion continuous improvement and lean initiatives to improve new product development
  • Any other responsibility which may be assigned form time to time by superior and HOD.

Education

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post GraduateProfessional Degree, Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Mechatronic/Electromechanical) or equivalent.
  • At least 2 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position
  • Experience in handling of First Article, DFM, FMEA, Failure Analysis in product and troubleshooting in process improvement.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge in GD&T, Drawing interpretation and MSA Study.
  • Strong analytical in Failure Analysis
  • Advantage in work experience in metrology functions.
  • Advantage experience in Sheet Metal fabrication & CNC machining industries.
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
